Business plans for productive value chains in the Colombian Pacific

Location: Departments of Antioquia, Chocó, Nariño, Valle
Year: April 2014 – April 2015
Objective: Business plans collaborative design for 4 productive value chains from the Colombian Pacific: naidí (acai), chontaduro, cocoa and coconut within the framework of the BIOREDD + project in order to reduce deforestation in the Pacific region and offer sustainable alternatives for productive activities. 
Institutions involved: BIOREDD +, USAID - Chemonics, Althelia, Araujo Ibarra, Expert Consultants, region’s community councils, producer associations, region’s communities.
Results: Development of business plans for 4 productive value chains in the Colombian Pacific including the identification and mapping of key actors, joint construction of agribusiness’ visions (through interviews and workshops) and building capacities processes for participants. Concrete business alliances with processing and commercialization partners. Contribution to the progress of the communities’ entrepreneurship projects focused on the productive value chains of cocoa, coconut, naidí and chontaduro, to promote income generation and deforestation decrease in the region.
