Objective: To boost financing for the circular economy (CE) in Peru through a diagnosis of the financial system regarding the CE, the adaptation of the categorization system (SdC), and the design and implementation of training for 11 municipal savings and credit banks part of FEPCMAC.
Institutions involved: BID-Invest financed the project, BASE coordinated it. Over 30 representatives from municipal savings and credit banks part of FEPCMAC, the Ministry of Environment (MINAM) participated in the program, although the categorization system is aimed at the entire financial system and governmental entities.
Results: Diagnosis of the Peruvian financial system and its progress in green financing and the promotion of the circular economy. The categorization system for financing initiatives in the circular economy was updated, along with the implementation of a specialized course aimed at FEPCMAC, municipal banks, and MINAM. Additionally, a detailed action plan was developed, with specific recommendations, to further boost financing for the circular economy in the country, ensuring effective monitoring of implemented initiatives.
